ukiaHaiku Festival Information

What:

An afternoon devoted to the Haiku form of poetry. A community arts event to hear the poems and meet the writers of Haiku read by the authors, both adult and youth. The entries will be judged by a team of local poets.

When: Sunday, April 27, 2008
2 to 4 pm
Where: City of Ukiah Conference Center
200 School Street in Ukiah, California

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

1) All Topics, Children, grade K-3
2) All Topics, Children, grade 4-6
3) All Topics, Youth, grade 7-9
4) All Topics, Youth, grade 10-12

5) Haiku about Ukiah, grade K-6
6) Haiku about Ukiah, grade 7-12
7) Haiku about Ukiah, Adult

8) Traditional Haiku, Adult
9) Contemporary Haiku, Adult*

Note that either traditional or contemporary styles will be accepted in categories 1 through 8.

*To be judged by Jane Reichhold, author of Writing & Enjoying Haiku.The Adult Contemporary Haiku Category has a separate submission fee of $5 for up to three Haiku (all other categories are free of charge to enter).

Winners in each category will be published and receive an award and/or gift. All entries will be on display the day of the event. You can also review the guidelines or download an information flyer.
